Kitapi, the Free Library Software, Introduces Enhanced Pro Plan Options with Its Second Version After 9 Years

Kitapi, the free library software project initiated by two volunteer entrepreneurs 9 years ago, has finally received its new version, developed under Kodventure Teknoloji AŞ, founded in 2020.

In addition to offering free features, Kitapi’s new version also introduces a Pro Plan option. From the beginning, Kitapi aimed to be more than just ordinary library software, functioning as a sort of social platform. With its new global version, it has taken another step toward achieving this goal.

Over the past 9 years in Turkey, Kitapi has hosted more than 12,000 libraries—most of them school libraries—along with libraries from municipalities, companies, foundations, universities, and personal collections. It has also accumulated 22,000 registered users, over 800,000 members, approximately 3.5 million book records, and 1.5 million loan transactions.

The founders of Kitapi aim to reach even more users, particularly in Turkish-speaking countries and Europe, through schools with the globally released version, which includes multilingual support.

The new version, launched during the week schools reopened, features a paid Professional Plan option, which has attracted attention. The main difference between the free and the Pro Plan is that the Pro version is ad-free and runs faster. While the free plan imposes a limit on the number of works and members, those who exceeded these limits before the update will not be affected by the new restrictions.

With the new version, Kitapi is building an ecosystem. At its core lies the Kitapi library software, surrounded by three side projects: one focused on e-commerce, another on social media, and the third on education. We will provide detailed information about this ecosystem on our blog in the coming months.
